Awesome! Tour driver and guide, where the very best. Loved Florence and surprised by Pisa.

Stop At: Gallerie Degli Uffizi, Piazzale degli Uffizi 6, 50122, Florence Italy
It is famous worldwide for its outstanding collections of ancient sculptures and paintings (from the Middle Ages to the Modern period). The collections of paintings from the 14th-century and Renaissance period include some absolute masterpieces: Giotto, Simone Martini, Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo, Raffaello, Michelangelo and Caravaggio, in addition to many precious works by European painters (mainly German, Dutch and Flemish). Moreover, the Gallery boasts an invaluable collection of ancient statues and busts from the Medici family, which adorns the corridors and consists of ancient Roman copies of lost Greek sculptures.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Ponte Vecchio, Via Por Santa Maria Via Guicciardini, 50125, Florence Italy
The bridge spans the Arno at its narrowest point where it is believed that a bridge was first built in Roman times, when the via Cassia crossed the river at this point. The Roman piers were of stone, the superstructure of wood. The bridge first appears in a document of 996. After being destroyed by a flood in 1117 it was reconstructed in stone but swept away again in 1333 save two of its central piers, as noted by Giovanni Villani in his Nuova Cronica. It was rebuilt in 1345.Giorgio Vasari recorded the traditional view of his day that attributed its design to Taddeo Gaddi — besides Giotto one of the few artistic names of the trecento still recalled two hundred years later. Modern historians present Neri di Fioravanti as a possible candidate. Sheltered in a little loggia at the central opening of the bridge is a weathered dedication stone, which once read Nel trentatrè dopo il mille-trecento, il ponte cadde, per diluvio dell' acque: poi dieci anni, come al Comun piacque, rifatto fu con questo adornamento. The Torre dei Mannelli was built at the southeast corner of the bridge to defend it.
The bridge consists of three segmental arches: the main arch has a span of 30 meters (98 feet) the two side arches each span 27 meters (89 feet). The rise of the arches is between 3.5 and 4.4 meters (11½ to 14½ feet), and the span-to-rise ratio 5:1.
It has always hosted shops and merchants who displayed their goods on tables before their premises, after authorization of the Bargello (a sort of a lord mayor, a magistrate and a police authority). The back shops (retrobotteghe) that may be seen from upriver, were added in the seventeenth century.
During World War II, the Ponte Vecchio was not destroyed by Germans during their retreat on the advance of the liberating British 8th Army on 4 August 1944, unlike all other bridges in Florence. This was allegedly, according to many locals and tour guides, because of an express order by Hitler. Access to Ponte Vecchio was, however, obstructed by the destruction of the buildings at both ends, which have since been rebuilt using a combination of original and modern design.

Pass By: Basilica di Santa Croce, Piazza Santa Croce 16, Florence Italy
The Basilica di Santa Croce (Basilica of the Holy Cross) is the principal Franciscan church in Florence, Italy, and a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church. It is situated on the Piazza di Santa Croce, about 800 meters south-east of the Duomo. The site, when first chosen, was in marshland outside the city walls. It is the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians, such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, the poet Foscolo, the philosopher Gentile and the composer Rossini, thus it is known also as the Temple of the Italian Glories
Stop At: Leaning Tower of Pisa, Piazza del Duomo Piazza dei Miracoli, 56126, Pisa Italy
The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre pendente di Pisa) is the campanile, or freestanding bell tower, of the cathedral of the Italian city of Pisa, known worldwide for its unintended tilt. The tower is situated behind the Pisa Cathedral and is the third oldest structure in the city's Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo), after the cathedral and the Pisa Baptistry.
The tower's tilt began during construction in the 12th century, caused by an inadequate foundation on ground too soft on one side to properly support the structure's weight. The tilt increased in the decades before the structure was completed in the 14th century. It gradually increased until the structure was stabilized (and the tilt partially corrected) by efforts in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
The height of the tower is 55.86 metres (183.27 feet) from the ground on the low side and 56.67 metres (185.93 feet) on the high side. The width of the walls at the base is 2.44 m (8 ft 0.06 in). Its weight is estimated at 14,500 tons. The tower has 296 or 294 steps; the seventh floor has two fewer steps on the north-facing staircase. In 1990 the tower leaned at an angle of 5.5 degrees, but following remedial work between 1993 and 2001 this was reduced to 3.97 degrees, reducing the overhang by 45 cm. It lost a further 4 cm of tilt in the two decades to 2018.

Stop At: Galleria dell'Accademia, Via Ricasoli, 58/60, 50122, Florence Italy
The Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze, or "Gallery of the Academy of Florence", is an art museum in Florence, Italy. It is best known as the home of Michelangelo's sculpture David. It also has other sculptures by Michelangelo and a large collection of paintings by Florentine artists, mostly from the period 1300–1600, the Trecento to the Late Renaissance. It is smaller and more specialized than the Uffizi, the main art museum in Florence. It adjoins the Accademia di Belle Arti or academy of fine arts of Florence, but despite the name has no other connection with it.

Pass By: Duomo - Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, Via della Canonica, 1 Piazza del Duomo, 50122, Florence Italy
Florence Cathedral, formally the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore; in English "Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower"), is the cathedral of Florence, Italy (Italian: Duomo di Firenze). It was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to a design of Arnolfo di Cambio and was structurally completed by 1436, with the dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink, bordered by white, and has an elaborate 19th-century Gothic Revival façade by Emilio De Fabris.
The cathedral complex, in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. These three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the historic centre of Florence and are a major tourist attraction of Tuscany. The basilica is one of Italy's largest churches, and until the development of new structural materials in the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.
Stop At: Piazzale Michelangelo, Viale Michelangelo, 50125, Florence Italy
This Florentine piazza was designed by architect Giuseppe Poggi and built in 1869 on a hill just south of the historic center, during the redevelopment of Oltrarno, the left (South) bank of the Arno river. In 1869, Florence was the capital of Italy and the whole city was involved in an urban renewal, the so-called "Risanamento" or the "Renovation" of the city's neighborhoods. Lungarni (riverside walkways; "lungarno", singular) were built on the riversides. On the right bank, the fourteenth-century city walls were removed and turned into the Viali di Circonvallazione, mimicking the French "boulevard" design, six lanes wide and lined with trees. On the left bank winding up the hill of San Miniato the Viale dei Colli was built, a tree-lined street over 8 kilometers long ending at the Piazzale Michelangelo which was built as a terrace with a panoramic view of the city.
Bronze cast of David facing Florence from the center of the square
The square, dedicated to the Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo, has bronze copies of some of his marble works found elsewhere in Florence: the David and the four allegories of the Medici Chapel of San Lorenzo. The monument was brought up by nine pairs of oxen on 25 June 1873. Poggi designed the loggia in the neoclassical-style that dominates the whole terrace, which today houses a restaurant. Originally it was intended to house a museum of works by Michelangelo, never realized. In the wall of the balcony, under the loggia, there is an epigraph in capital letters referring to his work: Poggi turned this into his monument in 1911.
The view captures the heart of Florence from Forte Belvedere to Santa Croce, across the lungarni and the bridges crossing the Arno, including the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, the Bargello and the octagonal bell tower of the Badia Fiorentina. Beyond the city are the hills of Settignano and Fiesole.
The Piazzale Michelangelo can be accessed by car along the tree-lined Viale Michelangelo, constructed at the same time, or by walking the stairs or going up the ramps from the Piazza Giuseppe Poggi, also known as the "Poggi Ramps" in the district of San Niccolò.

Pass By: Campanile di Giotto, Piazza del Duomo Historical Center, 50122, Florence Italy
Giotto's Campanile is a free-standing campanile that is part of the complex of buildings that make up Florence Cathedral on the Piazza del Duomo in Florence, Italy.
Standing adjacent to the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Baptistry of St. John, the tower is one of the showpieces of Florentine Gothic architecture with its design by Giotto, its rich sculptural decorations and its polychrome marble encrustations.
The slender structure is square in plan with 14.45 metre (47.41 ft) sides. It is 84.7 metres (277.9 ft) tall and has polygonal buttresses at each corner. The tower is divided into five stages.
Pass By: Duomo di Pisa, Piazza del Duomo, 56126, Pisa Italy
The square of the Duomo of Pisa - dominated by the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Bell Tower and Graveyard (the Campo Santo) - represents an architectural whole characterized by a really surprising stylistic accordance, to the point of having been compared by Le Corbousier to the acropolis of Athens. The choice of materials, with an almost absolute supermacy of the white marble, and the constant presence of blind arches at the base and practicable small loggias in the upper orders lead to the thought of single project, almost the expression of the group of artists that works well together in the same building site in a relatively short lapse of time. Still, this is the result of long process that saw various architects, sculptors and painters taking turns, in the space of more than three centuries, and amongthem some leading personalities who have marked their epoch.
Each visitor entering this space is rapt in the sudden vision of the four monuments, a vision that looks 'miraculous', quoting the fortunate definition coined by D'Annunzio. The buildings seem to spring up from a wide regular lawn, which however dates back to the XIX century, when th square was redesigned in neo-medieval slant, clearing it from many more or less poor buildings and from the vegetable gardens that were still tended there. Also because of these uses, the one of Pisa has no comparison with other medieval squares of the cathedral that, from Parma to Modena, from Siena to Perugia, see the structure of the city radiating from them. Nevertheless, this unusual decentred area has been the spiritual, and not only, heart of the city of Pisa.
Pass By: Museo di Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, 50100, Florence Italy
The Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace) is the town hall of Florence, Italy. It overlooks the Piazza della Signoria with its copy of Michelangelo's David statue as well as the gallery of statues in the adjacent Loggia dei Lanzi.
Originally called the Palazzo della Signoria, after the Signoria of Florence, the ruling body of the Republic of Florence, it was also given several other names: Palazzo del Popolo, Palazzo dei Priori, and Palazzo Ducale, in accordance with the varying use of the palace during its long history. The building acquired its current name when the Medici duke's residence was moved across the Arno to the Palazzo Pitti.
Pass By: Cupola del Brunelleschi, Piazza del Duomo Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, 50122, Florence Italy
Consisting of two interconnected ogival shells, the cathedral's octagonal dome was erected between 1418 and 1434 to a design which Filippo Brunelleschi entered in a competition in 1418 but which was only accepted, after much controversy, in 1420.
A masterpiece capable of withstanding lightning, earthquakes and the passage of time, it continues to enchant all those who observe it from afar. The dome has a diameter of 45.5 metres.
The competition that the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore ran in 1418 was won by Brunelleschi, but work did not get under way until two years later and was not completed until 1434.
The cathedral of Florence was consecrated by Pope Eugene IV on 25 March 1436.
Brunelleschi's astonishingly innovative approach involved vaulting the dome space without any scaffolding by using a double shell with a space in between. The inner shell (with a thickness of more than two metres) is made of light bricks set in a herringbone pattern and is the self-supporting structural element while the outer dome simply serves as a heavier, wind-resistant covering. The dome is crowned by a lantern with a conical roof, designed by Brunelleschi but only built after his death in 1446, while the gilt copper sphere and cross on top of the lantern, containing holy relics, was designed by Andrea del Verrocchio and installed in 1466.
The inner shell of the dome was frescoed by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari from 1572 to 1579, the subject matter chosen, namely the Last Judgement, reflecting the iconography adopted in the baptistry. The frescoes on the inner shell of the dome were the object of a thorough restoration between 1978 and 1994.
Awesome! Tour driver and guide, where the very best. Loved Florence and surprised by Pisa.
The tour was the highlight of our two week trip. Our tour guides were wonderful. We learned things about Pisa and Florence that we never would have known if we had done this on our own. The whole tour ran like clockwork. We never felt hurried and we saw exactly what we wanted to see and some things we didn't know about but we're glad we didn't miss. Wonderful day!
We were very pleased with the tour. The guide in Florence was very knowledgeable and thorough. Franco our driver was punctual and provided a great narration of the areas we saw.
This was absolutely fabulous and Marco was wonderful! We wish we had used Viator for other aspects of the trip. We will know next time.
Met at port with our driver who drove us into Florence. Tour giude in Florence really knowledgeable. One of our most favorite and beautiful stops. Florence is beautiful and the David (in the museum) was breathtaking. Not much to do in Pisa. Tower worth seeing but then nothing to do beyong gazing at the tower (a couple dozen vendors selling cheap trinkets).
Totally outstanding! Marco went above and beyond to help us enjoy this region of Italy. It's hard to please parents and a teen, but we all had a great experience.
Our driver/guide Marco was great- knowledgeable and accommodating.
Our Driver spoke wonderful english and was there at the dock to pick us up for our tour. During our ride to Florence, he pointed out various points of attraction and gave us some background on what we were seeing. Throughout our tour to Florence and Pisa, he mad us very comfortable with where we were, what we were to see and picking us up after sightseeing. Thefirst portion of our tour was the Art Museum. Our driver called ahead for our Museum Art guide to meet us and then handed us off to her. It was a fabulous tour of the Art Museum because she took us to "key" historic paintings and explained who the artist was; the time period of the painting; the style of painting and what was going on during that time period in terms of customs and attitudes. Then she would march us over to another painting and manuver us to the front of the crowds and procede do the same for the next painting and ask us what we saw and our interpretation. It was like getting an Art appreciation college course. The most wonderful thing is - she was our private guide. while other large groups were staining to hear what their guide was saying or trying to find a position to see the paintings over 30 to 40 people, we had only four people in our group. Ann was our guide and she was absolutely wonderfully patient, attentive to our questions and peaked our interest with delightful stories about the painters and the era of the paintings.
This is my review for Pisa and Florence.Excellent- Faboulous driver/giude. The private car was amazing. We loved everything and wished we could stay several more days in Florence and the area.
Fantastic tour. Tailored to our needs just enough time in the gallery and then look around Florence a new friend made with our wonderful guide. The trip to Florence then on to Pisa, Marco was not just a driver but a wonderful knowledgeable guide as well who was passionate about the area. Great day.
Our driver Stefano was AWESOME! I highly recommend this tour, we had a group of 12, but he drives for smaller groups too. He answered all of our questions and got us to where we needed to be by the times we needed to be there. Flavia was our personal guide for 3 hours and she was wealthy with information and history, she was very patient answering our questions and made sure we knew where to meet the driver before leaving us. A+++ for this tour company. I will use them again if I come back to the area. Much less expensive compared to similar tours offered by the cruise ship we took. Being able to go in a small intimate group is amazing and we're all spoiled now.
Had a wonderful day with our Viator guides in Pisa and Florence. They were very kind and always ready for the next stop.
Sorry to say it rained on us in Florence but our driver/guide was magnificent. He took us through town shopping to find poncho/umbrellas which was an added little bit of fun. He was so full of knowledge that the city came alive and we were mesmerized by its beauty. I don't think I have ever had so much fun in the rain. Then on to Pisa to see the leaning tower. Again the knowledge and love of the beutiful countryside by our guide on the way was magnificent. Highly recommend this private tour. Always prompt, courtious and eager to make our day the best he could.
GREAT, GREAT time , not only was it beautiful, but the guide knew where to take us and explain it so it was interesting, loved all of this trip
Highly recommend! Our driver, Giovanni, was excellent, knowledgeable, and professional. Our group of six, thoroughly enjoyed the Pisa and Florence day trip. Giovanni gave us interesting bits of information and recommended places for good photo shots as well as places to eat. The vehicle was clean, comfortable and a cooler of water was on board. We plan to use Viator for other tour in other locations.
Awesome. Wanted more time in Florence but driver was accommodating to our desires.
Our family of 12 took this tour during our recent cruise. Highly recommend. Guide was informative and tour well paced she made it enjoyable for the kids. Avoid shore excursions through the cruise lines. These much better and fairly priced
Absolutely top notch. We had a private car for four, which was worth every penny!! Our guide, Tommaso, was spectacular. He went far out of his way to make sure we enjoyed every moment of the ride. He dropped us off for a several hour tour with another guide, who was also great. We would recommend this to anyone!!
This was a WONDERFUL tour!!! Our tour guide David was INCREDIBLE and our kids even loved him! He picked us up at the port and took us to Pisa, then on to Florence where he was very informative and suggested a wonderful local restaurant. He then routed us through the Tuscan countryside on our way back to the ship....even stopping by a huge field of sunflowers to let my husband get some photos! People back on board the ship were very jealous when they heard about our day compared to what had experienced with the excursions through the cruise line. Worth every penny!!!
We were a party of 6 so I preferred a private driver to the ship bus. We were met at the appointed time at the pier and promptly began our excursion. Our driver informed us of various local information on the way to Pisa where we took whatever time we needed to look over the area. The adult children were very impressed and upon feeling that they had seen what they wanted, we easily located our driver and proceeded to Florence. There we were given various places to visit and never lost our driver as we wandered around the streets. As my wife and I had been there before, we wanted to visit a particular monestary. Our driver made sure we had time to do this before departing for the ship and we even showed him something he had not seen before. It was a wonderful experience for all and everyone just had a great time. Our driver spoke fluent English with a strong tone that all could hear.
We had a group of six and having a private tour was far better than being in an extra-large group with no personal attention. Our driver Giovani and our guide were both excellent. Our guide switched the order of our tour so we were opposite most of the cruise ship visitors. We saw Florence first and opted for the private guide there with admission to the Academia. Our guide pointed out things of interest and then when we reached the Academia we skipped this very long line which was awesome and then our guide asked us how much time WE wanted to spend there. We only wanted to see The David and then spend more time on our own in Florence so that is how he accommodated us. It was so nice. When we left the private tour guide and met back with our guide and driver our driver took us to his secret location for views of the city which were amazing. Then trough the country side to Pisa for a short visit and back to the ship. It was an excellent excursion.
John Franco was a great tour guide, great sense of humour and showed us a lot of things.
We had a wonderful time in Florence and Pisa. Our driver Sylvia was a joy to travel with and the guide, Emma, was very knowledgeable especially when it came to what to see, look out for and what not to waste time on at the Uffizi Gallery. We got some wonderful pictures during our short stay in the two locales and everybody enjoyed the time spent during this excursion. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to highlight Florence and Pisa during a stay in Italy.
We had an excellent. driver.Walter was most careful and showed us extra sights along the way.Orr guide [Ema]at the Uffizi gallery was most knowledgeable about the art and passed her knowledge on to us in a friendly way.
Excellent...could not have been better...Seve and Christina were polite ,knowledgeable and very helpful.....first trip...well worth the money...beautiful day....These Hillbillys got to see many of those places and things that we have studied and read about for years.
Excellent trip and tour guide, Marielana V. The driver Walter was a fine driver, but that's all he really was, with few exceptions. If you choose this tour, take the 3 hr professional guide option.. This got us is skip the line entry into see the statue of David, and an excellent walking tour of Florence. We hit all the major sites with multilingual Marielana . She is a wealth of information. After our time with her, she brought us to a place for lunch and departed. Our driver picked us up at the appointed time and location and whisked us off to Pisa. Some of our group had obtained tickets to climb the leaning bell tower at 3:30. So we needed to be there on time or forfeit the tickets. No worries, Walter made it there with time to spare. They climbed...we walked around looking at the baptistery, and church, while waving to our friends atop the tower.. Good overview of Florence, nice visit to Pisa and back to cruise ship on time.
This was an amazing tour to amazing places. Giovanni and Katarina were knowledgeable as well as delightful tour guides. We recommend this tour without reservation. Enjoy!
The tour guide and her commentary was very informative and knowledgable.
Fantastic trip! Giovanni was very polite and professional. We were picked up in a Mercedes transport van for our family of 5. We felt safe and very comfortable throughout the trip. We were offered bottles of water and given lots of scenic tours and information. Highly recommended!
Very good driver and tour guide - saw lots and learned tons.
OUR DRIVER PAOLO WAS GREAT. HE WAS ON TIME, FRIENDLY AND PERSONABLE. HE TOOK US TO FLORENCE, WHERE WE BEAT THE TOUR BUSSES BY ABOUT AN HOUR. WE WENT INTO THE HISTORIC HEART OF THE CITY WHERE TOUR BUSSES CANNOT GO. HE HOOKED US UP WITH OUR GUIDE OF THE UFFIZZI GALLERY. THE GUIDE WAS INCREDIBLY GOOD. THE GUIDE HAD EVEN OUT 17,15 AND 10 YR OLDS ENTHRALLED AS SHE SPOKE TO THEM AND GOT THEM PERSONALLY INVOLVED IN LOOKING CLOSELY AT THE ART, SCULPTURES AND HISTORIC PIECES. PAOLO MADE GREAT LUNCH RESERVATIONS AT A BEAUTIFUL ALFESCO DINING ON A SMALL SIDE STREET JUST A SHORT WALK FROM THE CROWDS. IT WAS GREAT FOOD AND AMBIANCE. HE THEN DROVE US TO THE COVERED BRIDGE, ALLOWED USANOTHER HOUR TO EXPLORE. THEN DROVE US TO PANORAMIC VIEW HILL OF THE CITY AND IT'S HIGHLIGHTS. HE POINTED OUT AND TOLD US OF MANY POINTS OF INTEREST. HE THEN DROVE US TO PISA, ALLOWED US ANOTHER HOUR TO EXPLORE AND GET PHOTOS. HE SAVED US WALKING BY LETTING US OUT ONLY 100 YARDS FROM THE TOWER ITSELF, FAR CLOSER THAN THE BUSSES. WE SAW MORE, DID MORE AND HAD MORE FREE TIME, THAN WE EVER WOULD HAVE HAD ON A BUS/GROUP TOUR. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR, AND IT WAS ABOUT THE SAME COST AS THE BUS TOUR, BUT OURS WAS PRIVATE.
Great tour. Driver, Sauro, was very knowledgeable - very nice clean car. Would highly recommend
The tour was great. Our guide was waiting for us as we got off the cruise ship. She knew about some traffic issues and rerouted to get around them. She was full of information but didn't exhaust us with it. We had the right balance of tour-guide time and family walkabout time. At the end of the trip, we felt that choosing a private tour for Pisa and Florence was the best way to go.
Excellent tour guide. Paolo was knowledgable and knew his way around Pisa and Florence.Would highly recommend him
Wonderful.Great guide and transportation. It was all we hoped for!
Come pick us at the port on time with a nice big van . We had a great time with her .
Fantastic!!! Driver/guide was great. Very personable and informative. Met all our needs - even stopped to see sunflowers. Florence guide was amasing. She totally made the experience great for our teen grandkids.
Simona was fantastic .....very kind, polite, and very informative. She had so much information. She was very knowledgeable and we were most pleased with this tour. The vehicle was also fantastic. She was very accommodating to my family and it was our pleasure to spend the day with her. Very good at her job
We had a wonderful time in both locations; our driver/guide, Paulo, was superb. He pointed out lovely sites along the way to Florence from the Port of Livorno. He was timely and found very easily-accessed sites to which to find us after we walked around both Pisa and Florence. We had a very good guide in Florence as well; she really knew the artwork/art history of the Accedemia and other brilliant works throughout Florence. One day is surely not enogh but gave us a taste of the area and we will retun. Thanks for the great day!
We had an excellent day with Francesco who was very knowledgeable about the locations, best times for visit, and location for best views. We discussed and decided the sequence of our tour as he picked us up at the Livorno port and we went to Pisa first because we got lucky with 9:30 AM tower viewing tickets for Pisa while searching the previous night! I totally missed advance booking of the Uffizi gallery.... however, Francesco got us to the gallery and managed to take us into the reservation lines for a 12:30 PM entry, this was a miracle with the crowds we saw outside the gallery. We covered a lot of sights in Florence and also managed to get the to the best Gelato place in Florence before heading back to the ship! It was a well organized private tour with the right amount of flexibility that made this entire experience perfect. Kudos to Francesco!
We had a wonderful day. Our driver Paolo was fantastic as was our guide Gabriella. She was very knowledgeable about Florence and art history so we learned a lot on this tour. The day was busy and fast paced but we felt like we were able to see and do most everything we wanted. There were four of us on the tour and Paolo picked us up in a van so we had plenty of room to stretch out and make ourselves comfortable along the way. I wish we had a little more time to shop in Florence but overall we really enjoyed the day.
We booked this trip before we set off for our cruise and definitely made the right choice. Travelling by taxi (small mini bus) was really comfortable and got us directly to places larger buses wouldn't have got to. Our daughter has a wheelchair and this was accommodated without difficulty. Great driver and guide, Gianfranco, helped make the day.
A very nice experience. Our escort/driver Simona was punctual on pickup and drop-off... She appeared very knowledgeable... very informative, personable, and helpful... all good personal traits to make this a great day. She took us to everything we wanted to see, and more. Well worth the price of a private trip.
Simona was an exceptional tour guide. She took the four of us to Pisa and Florence. I would recommend her, as well as your subcontractor, Prestige Rent.
Our driver Giovanni was on time and very helpful. We were picked up in a nice spacious mercedes. He brought us to see a wonderful panoramic view of Florence. He described everything to us on the way. Although the car was a little pricey for the two of us it really made everything convenient for us. We were able to see Florence and Pisa and make it in time for the tour we wanted to do in Florence. Our driver had great meeting spots and gave us time to explore things at our own pace. He personally walked us to the meeting area of the tour. highly recommend especially if you are on a cruise and pressed for time.
We love our Florence trip too, just a beautiful town. Again we wish there's more time to shop. Really like our driver very friendly and informative.
THE DRIVER AND THE TOUR WERE GREAT YOUR COMPANY CONTINUES TO IMPRESS ME WITH GREAT SERVICE
This tour was amazing!
All my guests and ourselves thought the tour was the best ever taken.Gulianni was terrific.
Great tour and tour guide was superb
The guide was excellent, friendly, and very knowledgeable, had an excellent day out, would highly recommend
Truly enjoyed both tours from the young driver who took us to Florence and drove us to Pisa. He was so charming stopping by a beautiful park with breathtaking views once he found out we loved to take pics. The tour guide Angela that took us to the museum to see the statue of David was fantastic, very knowledgeable and spoke Spanish, which is our first language. Florence was one of our favorite tours.
The driver was great and very knowledgeable. I think this was a little pricey but we would do it again.
Excellent. Driver very friendly and informative
Booked private tour for family of 6. Wonderful experience. Would highly recommend a private tour if you're short on time and haven't visited this area before. We talked w/others on our cruise that did public transportation and they struggled w/heat and crowds. We had a clean, comfortable van that our driver maneuvered right up to the spots we needed to go. Got to pack the most into our short time in these spectacular cities.About the day.. Our driver, Giuseppe, was waiting for us as we walked off the ship. Very professional, fluent in English, very friendly. We had bought tix to Accademia and Uffizi before we booked this tour so Giueseppe helped us work a quick stop by Pisa, visits to these two museums, and time to walk by the Duomo into our day. Pretty quick stops at the museums, but we got to see what we wanted to. As a side note, if you pre-buy your tickets, the reserved admission times seem to be suggestions. We waited about 35-40 minutes at the Accademia and got into the Uffizi about an hour early w/no questions. But as they said...You don't mind. It all worked out though. On the way back to port, Giueseppe took us back on a different route where we got some terrific views of the olive trees and vineyards and the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Grazie mille!! for a great tour!
Much much better than taking a cruise ship tour. No waiting around a lounge on the ship to be herded off to a bus. Just walk off the ship and be met by your driver. Less expensive too. Will do the shore excursions through Viator again.
Giovanni was great. He met us at the port with a spacious Mercedes-Benz van. He even had a carseat for our baby which was nice. We had purchased tickets to climb the leaning tower and were late. He volunteered to walk with us to the ticket counter to persuade them to let us in, and they did. After Pisa, he took us to a great spot where we got a panorama of Florence. Afterwards, we went to the city center and saw all of the main attractions. He recommended a market to eat at where the food was fantastic. Giovanni was very knowledgeable of the area, super enthusiastic and kind. We would love to have Giovanni and his wife over for dinner should they ever visit the states.
Excellent. The driver was wonderful and gave us a lot of history as she drove us around. The tour guide was great as well and had a wealth of information. Both the driver and tour guide were very friendly and spoke perfect English.
Our driver was early, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He took us to Florence to meet our guide. He also recommended a great place for us to eat that did not disappoint. Our guide in Florence was also very knowledgeable. This was our first experience with Viator and we were not disappointed.
Driver spoke English well and had great advice on what to see and do in both Florence and the rest of Italy.
Our tour guide was Awesome. This tour completely blew away our expectations!!
Outstanding! Driver and guide good English and enthusiastic in using it. Guide very knowledgeable art history specialist.
Amazing tour through Florence and Pisa with our tour guide Luigi. He picked us up on time at the port and drove us first to Pisa before the crowds hit so we could get our pictures with the leaning tower. Not really much more to do there than that so it was off to Florence! Tip: if you want to do anything in Florence get the skip the line card. I just got tickets for the Duomo online that didn't include the skip the line and when we got there it was more like a 4 hour wait so we didn't get to do that. Pretty much everything had a line so we walked around. Went into a few churches and did some shopping but would have loved to see some of the museums and sites. Luigi picked us back up and has us back at the ship in more than enough time to leave.
If you can find her, ask for Franchesca. Wow! Not only informative but passionate about telling the stories of the artists and buildings she shows you. We walked away from the tour very appreciative of her and the Viator contacts. If we never go back to Florence we will always remember her and our day in Florence.
Our driver, Giovani, was a pleasure to spend the day with. He was punctual, friendly and informative. The van was clean. The cities of Florence and Pisa are beautiful. Great day!!!
Prestigerent was an amazing company. I would use them again.
Great driver and tour guide. Wonderful day!
Both guides were very knowledgable of the area and very accommodating! They were very nice and professional!!
Wow what an awesome, beautiful and exciting tour. Tuscany was beautiful. Florence was full of history, the statue of David by Michelangelo in the Accademia Gallery gave me the chills, stunning. One suggestion, pay the extra money and get the tour guide. We did and were so happy because they show you and tell you more than you would get doing it on your own, or even know to do. Climb the Tower of Pisa, my husband and niece did and they were thrilled. Make reservations because only 10 people are allowed to go up each half hour. Oh and did I mention that the tour group Prestige Rent was the best! They were very professional and answered all emails and questions promptly. We took five tours while on our cruise and they ranked the very highest. Thank you Prestige and Viator for this wonderful experience.
This tour was amazing!
We had a great day in Florence and Pisa. Leonardo was so kind and knowledgable. We enjoyed the guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery as well and learned much more than if we'd done it ourselves. It would have been nice to have more specifics about the schedule in advance so we could have reserved tickets to the duomo and tower of Pisa as both were too busy when we got there. But, that was a minor issue. This was a nice day.
Our trip from the Princess Cruise Port was great from the start with our lovely driver Julian there ready and waiting. He took us firstly to Pisa and we missed all the people and even got to see around Pisa itself which was lovely. Then we went to Florence and enjoyed the views from the top looking back over the city. Then some shopping and back to the Cruise. Julian was so knowledgeable and would request time again if we were there. Highly recommend and would give him 10 out of 10. Thanks Sarndra and Pete New Zealand
Both driver, Leonardo, and guide, were extremely knowledgeable
Perfect - just what we wanted. Pablo was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. Made the car ride fun. The guide in Florence was wonderful. So much to see and learn in Florence. Absolutely loved it.
This was a great tour in order to get a feel for Florence. It's a big city with lots to do and our driver Leonardo helped us out with getting the most out of the tour. He also assisted us with our tickets to see the David statute. Vehicle was clean, reliable and comfortable. I wish he would have recommended a place for us to eat but he did drop us in the heart of Florence as we requested.
Leonardo was very friendly and professional. He gave us detailed introduction of Pisa and Florence, and Tuscany's history. He even served us champaign at the end of the tour coke for kids! We totally enjoyed!
Our driver David and our Florence guide forgot her name! was simply amazing!! We decided to make it a private tour because of so many things to see and we wanted to move at our pace fast instead of waiting on 30 people.Bottom line, we caught Pisa before the crowd arrived awesome!, and our guide did an outstanding job in explaining the Academia, Michaelangelo and David. Absolutely no regrets!!
Our family was met on time at the port by Luigi who politely introduced himself. His English was great, along with his professional and knowledgeable demeanor. We discussed sites we would like to see and relied heavily on Luigi's input. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!! I am a very particular person with high expectations and I could not recommend a better way to see Pisa and Florence. Luigi provided a first class experience beyond words. Lifetime memories for the family and thank you Luigi for everything.Regards,The Thurmonds
great trip! Driver was nice and very helpful also the guide in Florence
Leeza our tour guide and Francesco our driver were excellent. They were both extremely knowledgeable about Florence!
Thank you to Alessandro for a lovely tour of Tuscany including Pisa and Fiorenze. He recommended a great little place to eat and was waiting for us when we were ready to go. He even made a stop for me at a local shop so I could buy EVOO to bring home! Five star all the way! Thank you Alessandro!
We had a wonderful day visiting the Tower of Pisa and Florence, what a beautiful city. As this was a shore excursion from the ship we were nervous about timing. We had a great driver for the day and he got us back to the ship with time to spare.
Highly recommended, the driver speaks fluent English, was very accommondative, we had a good time.
This is the best tour we have ever been on! Our tour guide Francesco picked us up just as the cruise ship arrived, we beat the crowds into Pisa and Florence; amazing pictures. He was very resourceful as we also wanted to go leather shopping and wine tasting, he set it all up on the spot.
This was an amazing excursion! Our driver picked us up on time right outside of our ship. He talked to us about Tuscany and all the beauty it has to offer. He was in constant communication with the guide. We decided to add the guided tour to Accademia Gallery and it was so worth it! We skipped the line and went straight to see the status of David... Impressive! we walked around Florence and Caterina, our guide was fantastic! she recommended places to eat and have gelato. Our driver then picked us up at a specific place and took us to Pisa. Really, really nice experience!
We had Alessio as our driver and guide. It was just the 4 of us. Felt like royalty. He filled us in on the way to Florence on what we would see - how we would experience Accedemia and the city tour. He had cold water for us and introduced us to our city guide. He rearranged the Pisa portion to avoid the crowds and was extremely helpful in finding a place to eat in Florence. Mamma Mia's was the best. Yum. While it was crowded in the city we never felt rushed to hurry to the next site. Michelangelo's David was amazing and we learned so much about him. Highlight of our trip. Pisa was busy but not crazy - we got there well after lunch and the crowds were much less.
Our Driver met us and took us to some amazing places and told us everything we needed to know about the area.I would highly recommend this trip, and will be using Viator again on future trips.we were on a cruise and this trip saved us a lot of money compared to booking through the ship
We were met at our ship by Francisco who picked us up in a beautiful black Mercedes with bottled water provided. He spoke great English and was extremely personable! In Florence, he connected with our personal guide who was also excellent. Francisco went out of his way to take us to sights not normally on a regular tour. He even took us to a U.S. World War II cemetery when my husband told him he was retired military. When he drove us back to our ship, he gave us a lovely bottle of Italian wine. We cannot recommend Francisco and our Florence tour highly enough!
Alex was our driver and guide. He took us to pisa first. I think everyone should see it. Then we continued to drive through the beautiful countryside of tuscany on our way to Florence. We stopped up above Florence for a beautiful view of the city. then down into the city center to see the new and old bridges. He recommended a great place for lunch Momma Mia's! the food was incredible and Gelato of course for dessert. Florence was one of our favorite places on our 11 day cruise. We will be back someday.
What a wonderful experience with someone who really cares about the area in which they live and work. Our driver was so knowledgeable and was so concerned about us enjoying the areas. Highly recommend.
Our private Luigi was waiting for us at when we got off the ship. He was great...first we went to see the leaning tower of pisa it was amazing to think it is still there. Then we went to Florence and the views for the Piazzale Micheangelo was amazing. Reminded me of the views of the movie Inferno. After went to Florence itself and walked around the beautiful city Luigi provided us with information on shops and places to eat loved the place.
Two vans met our families on time at the port. They were very friendly and very safe about their driving. Our tour guide in Florence was extremely knowledgeable! She had such passion for the history and art of the area. We learned a lot!
As a family of 6 4 adults and 2 children we spend a great day with our informative driver/guide exploring the cities of Florence and Pisa. Our private tour gave us a wonderful opportunity to see and do everything we wanted to do in Florence and also visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa before returning to your ship at the end of the day. A great tour, well worth the money.
Alex was our driver. He was on time polite and friendly. His tour of Florence began with a scenic overview of the city. I wish we had him for longer. Emma was our museum guide. Her knowledge of art was amazing! She was friendly, polite and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend her and this tour. I wish we had more time.
Driver on time at port with name signVehicle in excellent conditionDriver knowledgeable and created custom itinerary based on our desiresDriver discussed port return time with us and kept to time schedule
It has been 2 years since we did this tour, but we are still talking about it and hope to be able to return to the area in the near future. Our personal driver was Luigi, who was very professional and an excellent driver, well informed about Firenze, Pisa and areas. The vehicle we travelled in was spotless and very comfortable. Luigi introduced us to Giacobbe, our walking guide, who took us to well-known sites such as the Galleria dell'Accademia WOW to everything, especially awestruck by David!, the beautiful Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, a walk along Ponte Vecchio to look at jewellery and other shops. There was time for some walking on our own and shopping for leather goods as well.Luigi took us to the incredible lookout point Piazzale Michelangelo where we took beautiful photos of Florence and the pontes crossing the Arno River, and Pisa for a short, self-wallking tour of the area. We felt so comfortable with Luigi that we felt we had been friends for years..
This was a rockstar tour made best by our outstanding driver Alessandro who was super knowledgeable, friendly, responsible, and engaging who English very fluently. We also opted to get a guide while in Florence along with tickets to Accademia so we could see David. Rosanna was also very knowledgeable about not only the art seemed like she might even have an art history degree but the city and its history. Between the two of them, we definitely fell in love with Florence and want to return ASAP. We then drove up to Pisa to see the tower. There's not much else to see or do there but if it's your first time, you obviously need to check that box off.
