This is as advertised. Meet near the entrance, receive your tickets, tour the Museum on your own. Note this does not include entrance to St Peter's Basilica, only the Museum. Sistine Chapel is part of the Museum, however.

We did not get a tour, just the skip the line option. It was definitely worth it - we did not have to wait in line at all!

City Wonders delivered exactly what they promised. The tour operators we bought tickets only, not the tour were very helpful and professional. I would recommend buying the guided tour, the press of people in the Vatican museum can be overwhelming.

Great way to get into the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel. We chose the upgrade for the guided tour and were somewhat shocked when we heard how long it was going to be. We were glad we didn't book anything afterwards. That being said, with the amount of people they move through there in a day there was no way we could have gotten through any faster than we did. It was lovely to have a guide as otherwise we would have walked through like zombies with no idea what was going on. The massive crush of people is just insane. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Our taxi ran late picking us up from the cruise port and they were so accommodating. We were originally scheduled for a 10AM tour and without hesitation allowed us to join the 11AM tour. Our guide was amazing - there is so much art throughout the Vatican and rather than just walk through he took time to explain and give history of certain pieces. The Vatican was crowded, which is to be expected, however we did not have trouble hearing or following our guide the entire tour. When we left around 2PM the entrance line was at least 2-3 hours long which we did not have to wait in. I would highly recommend this tour.

Last year we purchased a guided tour. Im not saying do not do that as it was great as well. However, with a guided tour limited in time you see just the highlights. Maybe not your highlights. We used bees skip the line tickets to get in and see essentially the other half of the museum. We spent nearly 5 hours looking at all the other things we had missed. I will say it was kind of sad that they put up a restaurant in the courtyard. A bit tacky.

The rep was there early and easy to identify at the stated location. She was very helpful and took us in promptly, avoiding the lengthy queues. She then sorted our tickets out before leaving us to do the tour at our own pace. She explained how the tickets worked and how to get to St Peters Basilica after this visit. The whole experience could not have gone any better and I would strongly reccomend this trip.

I had arranged this for my wife's birthday, having not been to Rome before. The Vatican was a must. To be fair, I had incredibly low expectations having used tour guides globally in the past. This was really, really good. It was very thorough tour, our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. We saw everything we wanted and it felt special. You can't review the guide for other guests behaviour, who seemed incapable of following a basic plan, but hey it's their holiday too and this didn't impact on the flow of the winding tour through the site. I can say that this exceeded my expectations and I would definitely use the company again when we return for the Coliseum same time next year.

We didnt take the tour but just got skip the line into the Vatican and Sistine chapel. Met the guide as arranged at a place that was easy to find. He was helpful and professional and took us into the Vatican, gave us our admission tickets and we were free to wander as we wished. Well worth the money as we got pretty much immediate access but the queues were at around 3 hour wait for admission. Very pleased that we decided on skip the line and would recommend to anyone.

We booked the Vatican Skip the Line tour one day prior to going. At check in the staff was very friendly and patient and spoke fluent English and Italian. Our lovely tour guide Sarah was fantastic - very witty and really knowledgeable about all of the history. The tour was a short 3 hours but you could easily spend days going thru the museum learning more of the details behind the paintings and sculptures. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested.

We didn't do the guided tour, we just used this for the skip the access and ease. And it did just that. The line that we skipped looked hours long and we got right in. We only did it for the Vatican Museams, otherwise you would have to wait in line for St. Peter's Basilica and that line was longer!

We really enjoyed this tour and chose it for the freedom to go through the Vaticum Museums at our own pace. I was so glad I booked this tour because the lines outside the museums are insane. It was worth it just to skip the lines. We met our tour guide at the bottom of the steps near a restaurant that was easy to locate on google maps. This is a skip the line tour and from check in at the bottom to the time we were free was about 15 minutes. Far better than waiting in line like the 500+ on the other side. (Really? Do people actually wait that long just to save $10. We didn't want a guide as we had other things to do after.

Would recommend you do an early tour, ours was 8am start its cooler then plus theres slightly less people at this time, although expect huge crowds especially on Wednesdays and Sundays, would recommend doing this tour during the week, we did it on a Saturday and was still busy, we visited in mid September.

The reason I purchased this was simply to skip the crazy lines of people waiting to get in to the Vatican. It was August and hot even at the 10:00 time we arrived. The lines of people waiting to buy tickets and get in were wrapped around the outside of the Vatican walls for at least a mile. When you arrive, you get to wait in a shady place between two tall buildings across the street from the Vatican Museum entrances and there is a cafe next door which has some delicious breakfast desserts. There are dozens of other tour groups there and you just find the flag for your tour guide, check in electronic copies are perfectly acceptable and then they walk you across the street and right in past all those unprepared people. It was totally worth any premium to not wait in the hot sun for hours. Be prepared that if you have children with you, once inside, you have to get special tickets for them, but the guides do that for you, but have to take the children with them to achieve this, so a short separation of parents and children is expected - max 10 min. Once you are inside, they set you free to tour with everyone else on your own pace. There are two kinds of skip the line offerings, one with a tour, one without. We chose without because we used a Rick Steve's podcast to guide us instead of an in person tour guide. We really enjoyed doing it that way, but if you want an official tour guide, make sure to read the fine print and purchase the Skip the Line offering that has a tour guide. You are allowed access to all the same Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peters that everyone else is. There is no limitation at all by buying this offering. Also, there is a short and long way to get to St. Peters from the Sistine Chapel. Make sure you take the farthest corner door from where you enter the Sistine chapel, otherwise, I've heard, you have about a 1 mile walk to get there the long way by taking the side exit in the chapel. All in all, this was worth EVERY penny!

We were really glad we did this. We chose the 10.15 option and even by then the queue outside the Vatican was already so very long. So we got in ahead of so many people. It's a little confusing as to where to meet and groupings, because if you get there earlier than your slot, there are many other skip the queue groups. But it was still so much better than being in the actual line up. Definitely do this if you want to visit the Vatican

The vatican is a BEAUTIFUL place with so much history and culture. Despite how crazy and chaotic the crowds were inside, our tour guide did an AMAZING job of keeping up with our entire tour group and looking out for us when some of the other not-so-nice tour guides tried to block our view or separate our tour group in half. She found time along the tour to check in with the different families and to keep everyone engaged. She was AMAZING and full of lots of interesting tidbits of history and stories of the vatican. Oh! as mentioned in the tour description, the tour guide does need to take all of the children in the group away from the tour group in order to take them to the window to obtain the entry passes and to verify the child rate. She did her best to get our group as close to the window as possible and the parents were all able to keep our kids in our line of sight while she handled this task.

You meet your tour guide opposite the entrance on some steps which are in the shade. They are very helpful and organised and will take you in a special entrance line straight through security. We did have a little wait as we had under 18s in our group so the guide takes the children to go and get their tickets at the reception whilst the other guide goes and gets the adults tickets while you wait in a big group but you are inside and cool. You are told where to make your entrance and then it is up to you to work your way round the museums at your own pace following the big red arrows which guide you round it all in the right direction ending at the Sistine chapel which was like a cattle market where you have to push your way through. This is the only bit your shoulders need to be covered but shorts or dresses to your knees are fine so don't fret about knees being covered or melt all day in full length trousers. they will provide you with a shoulder cover if you haven't got one so again don't worry about it too much. You can purchase a headset it you would like one or just look at your guide books and map. The museums are clean, spacious and cool and amazing to see. You will need at least 3-4 hours just to d the museums. There are nice toilets all round the buildings and a whole food hall area at the end but be warned it isn't as cheap as round the rest of Rome you can get a Pizza slice, chips and fizzy drink for 10 euros or with our the chips 6.5 euros. We only went to the pizzeria so can't comment on the other food. Make sure you take enough water with you as there aren't any free fountains to fill your bottles like round the rest of Rome. There are some machines to by drinks and snacks on the way round though if you get desperate.

I am glad we chose this rather than queuing on the day. We still had to wait but not as long.

This was really a great tour of the hi-lights, and was especially helpful given the mass crowd trying to get in and through the Vatican and St Peters. Having our guide get us in, and explain some of the nuances and details was extremely worthwhile, and we were allowed to roam around on our own quite a bit afterwards. Totally worth it!

Amazing tour! Our guide Analisa was great very informative organized and generally cared about our group staying together amongst the crowds of people walking around the museums. She even stopped many times to give us information about what we were about to see so we knew what to be looking for. Thanks Analisa!!

So glad we had a guide. Lucca was very knowledgable and also had a good sense of humour. With 20-26 thousand people per day passing through the museum with many narrow places and small rooms, things were extremely tight. I cannot imagine trying to navigate through all that without a guide. We have been through many other museums without a guide, but for this, take the guided tour.

The lines were around the block...several blocks...It was 103 degrees so it was well worth the extra money to skip the line!

My daughter and I were so grateful to be in a group of 20 folks with our tour guide, Sarah. She was informative, funny, and sensitive to pacing the group through the crowds well and making sure we were all together. We learned so much and realized that visiting St. Peters without a tour guide would have been too overwhelming. The context and history Sarah gave us helped us see and understand so much!

St Peter's Church is one of the most amazing sites and I would highly recommend anyone to take the time to see inside this church. The experience is so much better when you have a guide who can explain the structure, history, building techniques and art work. The skip the line tickets were definitely worth the money. Make sure you have something to cover your shoulders. Men can usually get away with wearing knee length shorts.

We were very happy with booking our Vatican Tour through Viator. We were able to chose this tour just one day prior to visiting the Vatican, and there were massive lines going around the block at the time. The tour guide met us where indicated and provided tickets when inside the door. We got to roam around at our leisure if we desired also, which was nice.

You're buying regular tickets at an inflated price, but it was worth it to us to avoid standing in the general admission line and use that time to explore other parts of the city.

Well organised and definitely worth skip the line. The ticket queue was at least 2 1/2 hours and even if it wasn't 38 degrees in the shade I would rather use the 2 hours for something else.Arrive 15 minutes before, they take you to a special line for group/skip the line. 10 minutes to get through security and 10 minutes wait while they get your tickets. 45 mins tops and you are you are in. Perfect.Vatican museum and Sistine chapel always worth it. My third time

This is the best option for someone that knows enough about art as the guided tours are too limiting and skip much of the BEST artwork the Vatican Museums have to offer.
